-

BranksThe podium at the foot of Braithwaite House, a 19 storey residential tower, was an unprogrammed public space of black asphalt. The intention of the project was to develop a sustainable scheme to enhance the building's public realm in a way which would engage the residents of Braithwaite House and Quaker Court. A brief was generated from an intense period of consultation including two residencies, The design creates informal meeting areas including seating and new planters, a large neglected planter was reused. It gives the bare asphalt new surface treatments to encourage play. The lighting around the tower was upgraded to a modern lighting environment.
